Surrender

In 200l, I felt a diminished creative energy for painting. I did not trust my own creative process and was becoming too analytical. These creative blocks prevented my enjoyment of the process. This painting represents restoring trust in my own creativity. A subtle humorous comment from my mother carried great wisdom as she reminded me to use my own unique creative expression. In January 2002 I was compelled to return to the Grand Canyon. My companions backed out at the last minute and I was forced to confront my fears of hiking solitary in this magnificent canyon. After excessive preparation and hesitation I proceeded. Upon entry into this canyon, all my fears dissipated as the inspiration for my new book poured in. As I hiked ravens followed and they gathered around me when I stopped. I said to the ravens “you’re kind of like magic”! As I received energy from the ravens, my energy field expanded and I felt a sudden compelling urge to look up. Off in the distance was a huge rock portal. From my past journeys I have come to realize that these windows are power vortexes. When the left and right hemispheres of the brain harmoniously merge as one enters a power vortex, the brain is capable of creating new neuro-pathways. As we seek inspiration, signals are sent up to our guides, contact is created and our energy field is elevated. Increased receptivity allows an influx of information from our guides, creates more energy in the body and natural healing occurs.

As I stood in this majestic place, my guides informed me that an internal shift was occurring which was allowing me to release the struggle and become fluid like water. It was time to allow the harmonious internal blending of the left and right brains. The process of gathering data and decision-making would be faster and easier. They told me that I would return to my free playful painting style. They urged me to begin creative writing in book format and to trust my instincts. As a result, my internal body structure would be realigned to a state of health. It was time to release the struggle, dance and flow like rushing water…Relax, have fun, and expand simultaneously. Suddenly I experienced a spontaneous healing. The muscles on my right hip suddenly snapped back in alignment and I felt a release of built-up tension go into the earth. My guides told me to be courageous and journey to remote new places alone in order to write my book and receive inspiration. They continued to give me practical creative ideas regarding my writings and illustrations and finally gave me a lesson in time management.

After this successful journey, I painted Surrender. One evening, I was talking to a friend who told me it was time to “surrender” and to move fluidly like water. This was a confirmation, because my guides had given me the same message. TIME TO EXPAND WHILE RELAXING SIMULTANEOUSLY and release tension. The painting was completed with expediency as I returned to my former creative self. As I learned to find the answers within, the chronic pain that I had experienced in my lower back and hips dissolved.

In this painting the goddess-like face in the rock portal is relaxed and fluid as the energy constantly flows through her to bridge the gap between heaven and earth. The dam symbolizes the build up of energy that can occur in relationships. This energy can then overflow from the dam and be transformed into productive focused activity. Note the fairy in the water that arrived for the grand finale of the painting. She announced herself as a dear friend who recently passed to the other side. Her presence is noticed upon completion of some of my paintings.
