"Journeys"

The inspiration for this painting came through a man who commissioned the artist to do a painting for him. When she spoke to him on the telephone to discuss the subject matter for his painting, his most inspiring words were "run like the wind!" For the next three months, while working on his painting, the artist climbed many remote mountains in Arizona. On her hikes, she built campfires and stared into their flames every night. Later while at home, the artist experienced a vision of a flame on the side of her face. Others could not see the illusionary flame.

The painting "Journeys" depicts the flame of purification above the mountains. The earthy thread of light pulls the unpurified earth energies up through the center of the mountains and further up and through the white flame of purification and transformation. The energy then moves up to the horse who has learned to gracefully juggle the dance of life. The horse's head forms the top of the side of a heart and is the physical manifestation of life. The remaining part of his body moves into spirit.

The energy continues to the other side of the heart and back down through the soaring bird, and then down to the earth again. The energy at this point has recycled back onto the earth plane with a purer blue tint.

At first glance the desert may appear vast and empty. Within this emptiness however, are endless spirits from the unseen dimensions. There are: spirit faces; an owl face in the mountains; a mountain lion; and an eagle with wide wing span in the foreground. There is also a gargoyle creature in the middle of the path, representing a gatekeeper who demands that anyone who passes by must first confront their fears.

This painting is a complete recycling of energy from the earth plane to the heavens and back down again. There is a one way valve where some energies leave and do not return or recycle, which is located in the center of the heart, a break in the opening.
