A contraposative was false to the original conditional statement. I just don’t HOW to explain why it was false?
The conditional statement.
If angle one = 42 degrees and angle 2 = 138 degrees then angle one and angle two are supplementary.
The contraposative:
If angle one and angle two aren’t supplementary then angle one doesn’t = 42* and angle two doesn’t = 138*
FALSE!
I know it’s false because angle one and angle two can be not supplementary for many reasons, but I just can’t come up with a GOOD reason why it wouldn’t be. Or rather, I can’t find one that best relates to the original conditional statement.
The negation of “A and B” is “not A or not B”. You’ve got “and” in your contrapositive where you should have “or”.
